Preparation of Car and General Rules

  1. Please remove all glass including windshield, side windows, rear window, headlights and taillights. Rolling windows down is not permitted.
  2. All cars will have holes in hood for extinguisher nozzle either (2) 8-inch holes or (1) hole larger than air cleaner. ALL CARS MUST HAVE AIR CLEANER.
  3. All chrome molding strips and the bottom portion of rear seats must be removed.

  5. Any sharp protruding fins or dangerous objects (mash down or cut off).
  6. No special bumpers, reinforcements, fabrications or trailer hitches permitted.
  7. All doors must be fastened shut by straps or chains or welded shut for the driver's safety. If chain link is used to secure the doors, the chain link diameter must not exceed 3/8 inches.
  8. Welding is only allowed on doors, bumper shocks and bumper brackets.
  9. Only one battery, any size, is allowed. If the battery is removed from the original position, it must be placed on the floorboard of the driver's compartment and securely fastened and covered.
  10. Front doors and roof should be painted white for numbering. Special numbers are permitted. All numbers must be large and readable. A roof top sign for your car number is to be a minimum of 2’ by 2’ in size.
  11. Autos must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, broken glass, etc. allowed in the car.
  12. No tires beyond 8 ply allowed. They must bee D.O.T. approved. Light truck tires are allowed. No studs or additives of any kind are allowed. Maximum height of 31 inches is allowed. No wheel weights allowed.
  13. Each driver and mechanic must sign in at the registration desk the day of the show and have their car inspected at least one hour prior to the show time.

  18. A vehicle will be disqualified if the driver's door comes open during a heat.
  19. The track officials enforce one-minute limit for re-starts and making competitive contact with another car. Hits must be aggressive. Simple contact within the time limit does not substitute combat and could be considered sandbagging.
  20. All cars are to be removed from the Fairgrounds following the show or they become the property of the Frederick County Fair Demolition Derby and the Officials will have them removed (unless otherwise specified at the driver's meeting.) Titles must be turned in on all cars left for junk.
  21. The Derby will be composed of one feature, with cash prizes going to the winner of the feature.
THE OFFICIALS' DECISIONS ARE FINAL. DO NOT ARGUE WITH AN OFFICIAL. DO NOT BRING VIDEOS OF RACES TO AN OFFICIAL AS THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THEIR DECISION!

Rules may be subject to change according to the Frederick County Fair Demolition Derby Committee.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Department has all priority on all inappropriate conduct or behavior.
