Contestant Requirements:
Contestant Requirements:
Miss Contestants Must:
1. Must be a resident of Frederick County VA, except for college students that attend college in Frederick County you may participate. Miss Winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and move on to VAF in January of 2025 where she will compete for additional scholarships.
2. Be a single natural born female, never married, and without children.
3. Be between the ages of 17-22. Contestants must be at least 17 years of age by the time of the Miss Frederick County Fair Scholarship pageant. Copy of Birth Certificate/Driver’s License Required.
4. Be of good moral character; never been convicted of a crime or have had any criminal charges pending against them.
5. Not engage or have engaged in any activities that are characterized as dishonest, immoral, or indecent. This includes social media and may be monitored by Directors. Any activities deemed inappropriate by Directors may result in the removal of the title or the inability to compete in the Scholarship pageant. If the title is removed for any reason, the first runner-up will then assume responsibilities and duties as assigned.
6. Participate in the Frederick County Fair in some capacity.
7. Pay sponsorship fee of $50.00. This fee is non-refundable and can be paid via cash, certified check payable to the Frederick County Fair, Venmo @Dawn-McKee-5 (reference contestants name and age group) or Paypal [email protected] (reference contestants name and age group).
8. Bring an 8x10” black and white or color photograph to registration for entry into the photogenic competition (a fee of $10 if wanting to enter more than 1 photo in the photogenic portion. Maximum 2 pictures). Also, Miss contestants need to email a print worthy photo to [email protected] for the newspaper.
9. Remain backstage without assistance from family or friends. There will be no one outside of pageant personnel and volunteers allowed backstage during rehearsal or the pageant. If there are any specific details or concerns that the pageant staff and/or volunteers need to know, please inform Director(s) of such at rehearsal.
10. Community Service Project- We strive to give our winners the best. Currently, we give our Miss Frederick County Fair a $1000 scholarship. We are asking the contestants to decorate a shoebox that represents the fair. After decorating, ask friends and family to donate money into the box. Boxes will be judged on presentation and originality and a best decorated box will be awarded in each category with the winner receiving a medal. The contestant that raises the most money in each group will receive a medal and 1 overall winner (collecting the most from all 6 age groups) will be crowned Miss Community Service and will be a part of our court and asked to do appearances, the fair and parades with the rest of the age group winners. This is NOT mandatory but used as a fundraiser for our Miss Frederick County Fair Scholarship fund, used to provide wardrobe and preparation for Virginia Association of Fairs, to build our parade float, and any leftover monies will be donated to the fair for future use.
In participating in the Miss Frederick County Fair Scholarship Pageant, contestants agree to the following if they are crowned the new Miss Frederick County Fair.
1. Attend and represent herself as an ambassador of the Fair every night.
2. Represent Frederick County and the Fair at the Miss Virginia Association of Fairs Scholarship Pageant in January 2025.
3. Represent the Frederick County Fair in parades and at appearances throughout her year-long reign as advised by Director(s).
4. Represent the Frederick County Fair by riding in the Apple Blossom Fireman’s and Grand Feature Parades.
5. Gain permission from Director(s) and Frederick County Fair Association before participating in any event as a representative of the Frederick County Fair. Additional entries and participation in other pageants must not interfere with the responsibilities set forth herein as Miss Frederick County Fair.
6. Crown the new queen at the 2025 Miss Frederick County Fair Scholarship Pageant.
7. Pageant directors, staff or fair board may take away title for any winner that does not abide by fair rules and standards (according to contract). Also, if your title is taken away you will
forfeit any prizes or scholarship money.
Areas of Competition:
Contestants will be judged on a point system, based upon poise, personality, speaking ability, and overall appearance in the following areas:
1. Personal Interview
a. A private interview will take place at the Ruritan Building before the on-stage portion of the Miss Frederick County Fair Scholarship Pageant.
b. Attire should be Business Wear
2. Personality Wear
3. 30 second Introduction
4. 30 second On-Stage Speech about the fair
a. Regarding Community Service/Community Involvement or a Platform Topic that is important to the contestant
5. Evening Gown/ on stage question
Scholarship and Awards Information
The Following will be Awarded:
● A $1,000.00 scholarship certificate will be awarded to the new Miss Frederick County Fair to be used in furthering her education.
● First and second runner-up awards
● Highest Interview score
● People’s Choice Award-winner will receive half of the monies taken in by votes at the pageant in addition to a trophy/medal.

1. Reside in Frederick County or the City of Winchester. Proof of Residency required: copy of utility bill with parent’s name and address.
2. Be single natural born female, never married, and without children.
3. Be between the ages of 13-16. Contestants must be at least 13 years of age by the time of the Junior Miss Frederick County Fair pageant. Copy of Birth Certificate Required.
4. Be of good moral character; never been convicted of a crime or have had any criminal charges pending against them.
5. Not engage or have engaged in any activities that are characterized as dishonest, immoral, or indecent. This includes social media and may be monitored by Directors. Any activities deemed inappropriate by Directors may result in the removal of the title or the inability to compete in the Scholarship pageant. If the title is removed for any reason, the first runner-up will then assume responsibilities and duties as assigned.
